How Children Learn at School 

Why is it important to talk in class? The reason why we talk is so we can take risk and try new things. 

It's important to listen in class so you know what you're learning about. And we should explore new things so that we know the right thing and wrong thing to do in School.

It is important for the juniors to follow there role model in School. So that we can learn from each others and we can give feedback to the Juniors if they want to learn new things.

If you don't understand anything you should ask questions to your friend or your teacher. The reason why it is good to ask questions is so people can know what you think and so you can learn from other people. 

The reason why we should learn at School is so we can learn new skill and use are ability to think.


On Monday me and Magenta were writing an Explanation about How Children Learn at School. Our first paragraph was for our Introduction. The middle 3 Paragraph is for our POIPIO and our last paragraph is for our Conclusion. We have work really hard to come up with this Explanation. We have also tried our best we write this Explanation. First me and Magenta planed of what we are going to write about then we write them in a paragraph.

Learning to use synonyms

Today my writing group was learning about what is a synonyms. A Synonyms is a word that is the same meaning but a different word and more powerful word. Today I worked with Hajera. Our task was to find another word that means the same but different word. We use an online dictionary to help us find the word that means the same but different word. 

5-7-10

Let me tell you about the worst mistake I have ever made at home. One day at home my Aunty and I thought it would a nice day to cook something for our family. I felt so happy by the time my Aunty said “Let’s make a chocolate cake,” because that is one of the cakes that I like to eat. Everything was going well until I did something wrong. My Aunty was reading a book of how to make a chocolate cake and then she told me to put something into the bowl but I didn’t  listen to her so I mixed the wrong thing. Then we have to start all over again. From that day I have learnt why it is very important to listen when someone is talking about something.

Today we did the 5-7-10 activity for writing to describe the worst mistake we have ever made. We had to write for 5 minutes, share what we had written with a buddy for 7 minutes, and then carry on writing for another 10 minutes.

A or An

 

Today in my writing group we were learning when to use a or an in a sentence.  I have created this DLO so that I know when to use a or an in my sentence. I have also given an example of what they mean.

On Saturday my family thought it will be a great idea to go to my Aunty house for a visit. We stayed there for an hour then we eat something that my Aunty have cooked.

In my family I am not the only child that was born. I have 3 brothers but sadly I don’t have any sisters in my family. I am the youngest in my family. My brother can be annoying something but most of time they are not.

Will that because they are on their phone most of the time. Then they came up to me and ask can we watch a movie on your netbook. Sometime when I feel good I might have said yes and sometime I said no because I want to play games on my netbook.

Our challenge today was to write our ideas clearly so that they make sense. We had only 4 minutes to do. This in, and 1 minute to check our writing. Our task was called 2 word.. 1 minute. We had to choose one of the words then power write for 1 minute count our word, carry on for 2 minute more minutes, count our words, then finish with 1 more minute. It was really fun doing this writing and I have learnt how to write in a minute because I have not write a story like this before.

Let me tell you something

Let me tell you something about lunchtimes at PBS. When the lunch bell rings all the kids from each class comes out of the class door.  When we go out of the door kids grab their bags so that they can eat fast and go out to play around the school with their  friends.  I can hear people talking a lot with some friends sitting around them. There are lot’s and lot’s of people around the school. But they are not in the same place. Some people like to play on the playground and other like to play on the courts. On the playground you can play lot’s of things, kids on the courts  usually play handball with their friends and their also like to shot the ball into the hoops. People also like to play tag with their friends.  Some of the little kids like to run around the school with their classmates... While some like to play in the park.

Today I have made a story with my writing group. This is about what it like lunch time at Panmure Bridge School. First we had 4 minute to write a story in our books. That was our practice writing. I think I did really well on this work because I have never write a story this much long be .Then we had to write on our netbooks. First I had to proofreading my own work to see my writing make sense and then give it to our partner  so that they can cheek our work to see if we have a the capital letter and full stops in the right place. I was working with Viva. She was changing some work that doesn't make sense in my story and she was taking out some word that I don’t need. She was making sure that I have use the powerful words.

Personification

We made this DLO to help us understand personification. Personification is when you use your words to make something that is not human sound like it is.

Writing Instructions

 

Today in writing my group was learning how to write a set of Instructions. For today we had to put the sentence box in the right place in our DLO. We had to use the scribble tool to find all of the verbs in our sentence box and circle the verb.

Learning to give clear instructions

Today in writing my group was learning about  how to write a set of  instructions. We worked with a partner who had to draw a picture without showing it to us, then give us clear instructions for us to draw the same picture as they had. 

Instructions needed to be simple and easy to understand and in time order. We have person A and person B, for the time I chose to be person A.

Hall Plays

Hall Plays

In the hall, I could hear someone talking and people passing a ball. I could feel the floor between my feet. I could see many balls by the wall. I felt peoples hands passing the ball to me.

Also I hear a ball being kicked. At the end of the games I could hear some people cheering the people who were playing. As we played futsal I could hear the sound of people’s laughter and they were kicking the futsal balls all over the room.

When I heard a whistle there was suddenly silence. As I continued kicking the ball I looked at all the class photos on the walls.

Yesterday my class started writing a Recount. I was writing a Recount about Futsal. We have five minutes to plan and write  a Recount. In my Recount I have to write, what I could hear, see and feel. First I plan my Recount then put them into a sentence. I did the planing in a book. Then I have to write it on my chromebook ( computer ).

Explanation

Why My Blog Is Unique

A blog is a website where other people can see my work. My blog is unique because other people can see my work that I have posted in the many years I have been in Panmure Bridge school.

My blog journey began in 2014 and since then I have shared my work with the world over 296 times all over the world! I share my learning with the world almost everyday. When I post something on my blog, I add a blurb and label the blog post before posting it.

I share my work all over the world, this means I have to have high standards. Each post has a blurb that tells people what I have been learning about. I label each post so that my work is easy to find. For example if I post a poem, I label the post “writing”, my name, and “poem”. This makes it easier for people to access my blog post. There is also a comment section where people put feedback and feed forward.

When you post a blog post, you can comment underneath some feedback or feed forward. This helps me because I can improve in my next blog post. I love reading each comment because it has a list sometimes of each thing that I did right or a good job on.

My blog is different to other people because it is a timeline of my learning journey since I was in year five. The best part of my blog is that it can never be lost or thrown away. I have a goal of 500 blog posts by the end of the year.

Last week my writing group started  learning how to write  Explanation. We were learning how to write an Explanation. I know that Explanation first we need a title,Introduction,Paragraphs of important points in order and for the last one it is Conclusion. For this work Explanation writing I work with Ma'ata. I think I still needed to work on my Paragraphs.

Dear term 1

Dear term 1 Sakae

This year I wanted to get better at my English. I have been working on my English by reading lots of books. Reading and writing help me with my English because I am learning more words. I am proud that I learned how to swim this year. My learning is on my blog and I have posted 142 times.

I have written about what I have achieved this year and what am I proud of. I think my English has improved and I have enjoyed this year at PBS.

Sketching Note

 This week  and last week we are learning about Sketchnote. Sketch note is something you can use for studies and when you are researching. your notes don't need to make sense to anybody except yourself. The sketch notes that I have been doing were about these topics. Questions, athletic skills, and Rio Olympics 2016. What I really like about sketch note is lets me be creative.

Language Features

This week my writing is about Language Features. This is about Language Features. It telling what is Language Features mean. A noun is place or people, verb is a doing word, Adverb is a describing verb and Adjective describes. I have writ a example of what it all mean.

Story Starters

Today I wrote a story about a million years old screenwriter who wins the lottery. I also drew a picture to go with my story. When I first got to the website I have to write  my name and I chose what I waned to do. I chose to  do the million years old screenwriter who wins the lottery because I think this story is fun to write.

Speech

Hello LS.2, my name is Sakae, Today I will be talking about  My journey to New Zealand. I would like to tell you I how felt leaving my country, friends and family. I am going to tell you how hard when I first came to NZ was.

I felt scared when I first came to New Zealand. I miss all my friends and family in my country.

I didn’t  talk to people  because I couldn’t speak English properly. I didn’t eat NZ food because it is different to the food we eat in my County. I am starting to eat more NZ food and enjoy it more now.

Things started to get  more easier for me when I came to panmure bridge school because my English is getting better and I have made friends in this school. I got a lots of help with my English in panmure bridge.

Introduction

I believe the Dinosaurs were killed by an asteroid. Some Dinosaur kill people. Some Dinosaur are in the museum. Some Dinosaur kill  themselves because they eat each other. Some Dinosaur die from the sun because it too hot.

Since Koalas are interesting animals, here are some facts about Koalas. Koalas have an unique appearance, although they look like tiny bears. The diet of koalas is mainly one thing, eucalyptus leaves. Koalas are native to Australia, and there are many interesting facts about Koalas.

Appearance

Koalas have thick grey and white fur, they have a fluffy body, face and ears .  Koalas have a huge nose and small eyes. Their head is large and there brains are tiny.

Diet

Koalas eat 500 g of  leaves a day.

When they are babies Koalas eat their mothers poop  because it helps them  digest leaves. They also drink their mother's milk when they  are babies.  Adults like eating fruit and eucalyptus leaves.

Habitat

Koalas live in the  South Australian bush forest. They live up in the trees.  Some koala live in the zoo.

Interesting facts

Koalas can live up to 20 years.  Koalas don’t drink much water, they can sleep for 20 hours a day. Baby koalas live in  a pouch for six months after they are born,  a baby koalas is  called a Joey.

Dogs are one of my favorites animals. They can be your best friend. I think dogs are a lot of fun. There are different kinds of dogs but they all need food, special equipment and care.

There are lots of different kinds of dogs. Dogs come in all sorts of different breeds, some dogs are mixed breeds. Some of the most well known breeds are: German Shepherd, Poodle, Spaniel, Labrador, and Boxer. Sometimes mixed breeds have some funny names. For example if you cross a Labrador and a poodle you have a Labrador.

Dogs need food to eat. Dogs eat: jelly meat, biscuits, and dog roll. They also need water to drink. Dogs need to have two meals a day to get their energy for the day. You also need to take very good care for your dogs so they can love you more.

Equipment

Dogs need a lot of equipment to play with and to protect them self. When you take your dog to the park or somewhere big you might need to buy a collar. If you get a big dog you might need to take them for a run if they are active.

Care

Dog need to take care. Dog need a bath everyday to clean. Your dog need a walk for everyday to help them with their exercise. They need to go to the vet if they are sick.

In conclusion,  dogs are one of my favorite animals they can be your best friend I think dogs are a lot of fun.
